Akron, OH: Shincor Silicones, a leading manufacturer silicone elastomers, has recently opened a new LIMS Technical Center in Akron, Ohio. The new center was created to assist the company in the development of new LIMS products, to provide full-scale production simulation of LIMS materials, and to assist customers with both training and problem-solving. According to Shincor’s Eric Bishop, “We developed the LIMS Technical Center to help customers solve material and production problems and provide a facility for molding trials, production start-up, and training.” Shincor has invested over one-half million dollars to establish the Center. The center piece is a 110 ton, All-Electric horizontal liquid injection molding press. A 4-cavity baby bottle nipple tool complete with cold-runner and individual valve gates has been purchased and an additional tool to overmold on thermoplastic inserts In addition, Shincor will offer the proto-type production of parts, allowing customers the opportunity to test part designs and materials using lower cost single cavity tooling. The new facility provides ample space for facility expansion, and Shincor plans to add full analytical testing as well as a variety of additional molding machines with different production characteristics. This will include vertical and horizontal presses, as well as 2-shot and insert or overmolding presses.
